Kaffebox – March 18 Box Preview: April Coffee Roasters

Now it’s finally time for the next KaffeBox, April Coffee Roasters is being featured, the reason why it’s taken such a long time is that of Postnord (Swedish postal service) requires a declaration cost from the recipient and an added 21 days of delivery time. Just because Norway (KaffeBox is Norwegian) hasn’t joined the EU. I have to add that it’s very strange Sweden has no exception to our neighbors.

This will be the fourth time for KaffeBox, you can read the most previous post here. This month, the coffee comes from the Copenhagen Roasters, April Coffee Roasters. This week we will review both Ethiopian and Rwandan coffee.

As usual, I start with an informative text about the coffee:

April Coffee Roasters, Copenhagen, Denmark.

1) Ethiopia Banko
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2018-04-19

Origin: Ethiopia
Variety:  Native Heirloom
Farm: Banko processing station
Region: Yirgacheffe
Process: Natural
Altitude: 2 000 – 2 200 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Fermented Blueberry, Florals & Milk Chocolate

Expectation: This really sounds like a coffee I had no doubt chosen myself. Everything really appeals to me, floral and chocolate tones are my favorites. I’ve fermented a lot lately, and fermented products have a special taste… It’s kinda funky. So fermented blueberry could only be very interesting!

2) Rwanda Matyazo
Personal cupping and recipe will be published 2018-04-20

Origin: Rwanda
Variety: Bourbon
Farm: Matyazo processing station
Region: Matyazo, Ngororero
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 600 – 2 200 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Strawberry, Tropical Fruit & Herbs.

Expectation: This sounds really interesting. I believe it will be a sweet and earthy coffee, which will be well-balanced and works for the most part. I have only good things to say about coffee from Rwanda, it has always been good. I can only expect a good coffee with sweet and earthy tones.

Conclusion: I think this may be the most interesting KaffeBox I reviewed so far. April Coffee Roasters are well-known in the coffee community in Scandinavia, their roaster recently won the Brewers Cup 2018. Well, that makes me have really high expectations just that.

I say this every single time, and I’ll continue. KaffeBox has the most pleasing packaging in a subscription box. Even April Coffee Roasters has a simple and clean design, white with color that has a shiny contrast on the whole. April Coffee Roasters will be a pleasure to review! Let’s get brewing tomorrow!
