The Coffeevine April 18 Box Preview

Now it’s finally time to write about the Coffeevine’s April 18 box, in this post I will write a few short posts about each coffee, where the coffee roaster is from, where the coffee comes from and my expectations about the coffee itself.

1) Machhörndl, Germany.
Personal cupping and recipe are available 2018-05-23

Origin: Kenya
Variety:  SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, Batian
Farm: Smallholder Farmers
Region: Embu
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1 760 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Currant, apple & floral.

Expectation: First of all it smells amazing! As for Kenyan coffee, this is the right taste profile for me. More acidity and freshness than deeper with more body. This is exciting to review!

2) Kafferostare Per Nordby, Sweden.
Personal cupping and recipe are available 2018-05-24

Origin: Costa Rica
Variety: Villa Sarchi
Farm: Alejo Castro
Region: Alajuela, Central Valley
Process:  Honey
Altitude: 1 550 – 1 700 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Juicy, fresh green apple & plum.

Expectation: I love Per Nordby, I’m mostly aiming for coffee, but I’ll definitely throw a love bomb to him as thanks for the coffee he highlighted in Sweden. His coffee always has that freshness that is hard to achieve. It is carefully chosen and it will certainly be a nice cup every single try!

3) Café Capitale, Belgium.
Personal cupping and recipe are available 2018-05-25

Origin: Ethiopia
Variety: Mixed Heirloom
Farm: Smallholder Farmers, Chelelektu
Region: Kochere, Woreda
Process: Washed
Altitude: 2 000 – 2 200 meters above sea level.

Cupping notes:
Vibrant, floral, citrus, jasmine & peach.

Expectation: I expect a more balanced coffee that offers strong tones. A variety of fruity flavors with a mild finish of chocolate. Will be a great candidate for winning this month.

Conclusion: As usual this will be very exciting to see which coffee roaster will win in this The Coffeevine’s April box 18.

Once again, there are three different coffee bags from three different countries, extra exciting to see a coffee from Costa Rica with The Coffeevines April Box. Costa Rica has a special place in my heart so I already feel leaning towards that bag of coffee, nor does it make it better that the coffee is roasted by the Swedish giant Kafferostare Per Nordby. Just kidding, I look forward to every cup of coffee that will be brewed and reviewed.
